Where to start?

Hey all! So if you've gotten this far, you probably have at least some interest in improving your health, living a bit more compassionately, or even transitioning to a vegan, cruelty-free lifestyle! 

 

The beginning of any journey can seem daunting, especially when you feel unsupported or have no idea where to start. I know, that was my journey. I often felt like the "friend that wasn't fun anymore," I felt like I was a bother to people, I had no idea what to eat. These are common problems when starting out. But if you believe in what you're doing and understand the reasons that truly justify your decision to live in a certain way, inevitably, you will be successful. To make things a bit easier for you, I put together a few resources that were invaluable in my transition to a healthier lifestyle. 

 

The Rich Roll Podcast: This incredible and inspiring plant-powered athlete interviews all kinds of people with a focus on health, performance, mental vitality, compassionate living, goal achievement, and vegan lifestyle. Arm yourself with knowledge! My recommendations on where to start are listed below. But any of them are really worth a listen.

 

                        - Beat the dairy addiction

                        - The corporate manipulation of your food

                        - Superfoods for living a SUPERLIFE!

 

 

Now, the next one is a little tough. Documentaries.....I know, most people aren't huge fans like we are (but come on! Ken Burns?? Anyone? So amazing!) But learning about the truth of what you consume everyday is a bit like ripping off a bandaid. Ok, more like ripping off a long piece of duct tape. But you've got to do it. Everyday, the majority of Americans are directly participating in mass killings, large scale torture, abuse, deforestation, species extinction, and on top of that are filling themselves with substances that are poisonous to humans. The FDA allows up to 130 million pus cells per 8oz glass of cow's milk. Now I don't know about you, but I don't like the idea of drinking pus. And we feed this to children? But here's the good news! You know what doesn't contain pus? Almonds! And almonds don't have nipples, so they can't get mastitis, and CAN'T leak pus into milk. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Knowledge! Yeah! *high fives all around*

Books:

                        - Super Life : I cannot recommend this book enough! Such a wealth of information                                   about how your body absorbs nutrients, how it digests, and what kinds of things                                     cause inflammation (which is the root of ALL EVIL when it comes to disease in the                                   human body). READ IT! 

                        - Finding Ultra : This is an inspiring story about Rich Roll and his journey to a plant                                     based diet. This is especially great for those of us who think that they can never go                                 vegan.

Magazines:

                        - Thrive : Beautiful food inspiration and health information.
